Methodology & sources

Built on current guidelines

Vaccine intervals follow the 2022 AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines; deworming follows the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC). This is an educational starting point, your veterinarian tailors the plan to your region and each puppy.

  • 2022 AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines (American Animal Hospital Association), core DAP series every 2-4 weeks with a final dose at ≥16 weeks; rabies at 12-16 weeks with a 1-year booster.
  • Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC), deworm at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks, then monthly through 6 months; year-round prevention thereafter.
  • WSAVA Vaccination Guidelines Group, global core/non-core vaccine framework.
  • American Kennel Club, puppy vaccination schedule overview for owners and breeders.

Important: Rabies timing and required boosters are governed by state and local law. Regional disease risk changes which non-core vaccines are advised, and a puppy’s maternal-antibody status can shift the DAP series. Always confirm the final protocol with your veterinarian.
